About Us

If you are looking for things to do in Eden Valley, a visit to our shop offers more than just a retail experience, it’s a journey through South Australian history. While many people search for where to buy antiques in Adelaide, those in the know take the scenic 90-minute drive to the Barossa high country. They don’t come for polished showrooms, they come for the stories.

MY STORY

A Living Piece of South Australian History

The building at 23-29 Murray Street is State Heritage Listed and has been part of Eden Valley’s story since 1869, when one of South Australia’s first steam-driven flour mills stood on this site. After fire destroyed the original in 1913, Penfolds completed the current building in 1922, producing fortified wines here for decades. The Hamilton family later took ownership in the early 1960s before the property passed through several hands and business ventures over the following years. Today, it stands as one of the region’s most storied landmarks.

Behind the Collection: Fiona’s Journey

What separates Eden Valley Antiques from the large, multi-vendor antique dealers in Adelaide and the suburbs is a single, personal touch. We are strictly owner-operated.

Fiona, the heart behind the shop, didn’t start with a business plan; she started with a lifelong passion for the “hunt.” Her journey from a dedicated collector to a retailer was fuelled by a desire to rescue forgotten treasures from dusty sheds and estate clearances.

“In a massive antique centre, a piece is just a number in a booth. Here, I’ve personally sourced, cleaned, and researched every item. I know its story, and I care about its next chapter.”

— Fiona, Owner

We live by a simple mantra: Repurpose, Rehome, Recycle.

Our Philosophy: The Three R’s

In an era of disposable “flat-pack” furniture, we champion the idea that second-hand is never second-best. Whether it’s a mid-century sideboard or a rustic farm tool, these items were built with a level of craftsmanship that modern manufacturing rarely touches. By choosing to shop with us, you are:

Repurposing

Quality materials for a modern lifestyle: We rescue high-grade materials that were built to last a lifetime, transforming forgotten relics into practical, everyday essentials for the contemporary household.

Rehoming

Pieces that carry the beautiful patina of age: Every character-filled scuff and faded finish tells a story, and we take pride in finding the right person to start the next chapter with a piece that has already stood the test of time.

Recycling

In its most authentic form; keeping high-quality goods out of landfill: By choosing vintage over volume-produced items, you are making an environmental choice to preserve craftsmanship and keep durable, beautiful objects in circulation for another generation.

Please: DO Touch the History

We want to shatter the “museum vibe” often associated with old things. We invite you to be tactile with our collection

These items were built to be used, not just looked at. You can’t feel the weight of solid Australian cedar or the smooth action of a 100-year-old hinge through a glass case. We want you to fall in love with how a piece feels before you decide it belongs in your home.

Pick it up. Sit on the chairs. Open every drawer.

The Pricing Promise: Op-Shop Values

One of the most unique things to do in Eden Valley is to find a genuine bargain. We know that many Adelaide antique shops carry “gallery” price tags to match their overheads. We do things differently.

We explicitly follow an op-shop pricing model. We believe that for an item to be truly “rehomed,” it needs to be affordable. Our venue may be grand and historic, but our prices are designed to ensure that these treasures actually make it into your home rather than sitting on a shelf for years.
